Pain medication.
I have recentlystarted my own 'home based business'. I enjoy being my own boss and staying at home . Part of my business is getting others involved in starting their own 'business opportunity'. I have signed several people into the business. One of them is a good friend of my husband. He has been unemployed for several years, due to a back injury and several surgical operations. As a result he is often on pain medication to help to make himself feel more comfortable.
Concentration is better, without pain killers.
Shortly before signing up with the business, he had a shot in his back that helped take care of the pain. He found that he had increased his motivation and motivation, because he was no longer, isuffering from constant pain, and he could think more clearly because he was no longer on pain medication. I spoke with him and his wife several times over the first two months that he was in business. During that time he was really motivated to learn about the products that we were retailing and he also had great plans for bringing others into the business.
Personality Changed when he was on pain medication again.
Unfortunately about three months into the business the effects of the shot wore off. He began taking the pain medication again and he has had a drastic personality change. He is negative about the lack of progress that he has made with the company. He is discouraged when people do not buy things from him and he has dropped his marketing plans. He is not going to put forth additional capital to help promote his business until he has sold the inventory that he has. He is in a vicious self destructive circle that he does not have any desire to get out of.
Pain Medication can give negative results.
I told my husband that I feel bad for his friend, yet I am not going to spend a great deal of time in mentoring him right now because his negativity wears me down. My husband attributes the negative attitude and lack of motivation to the pain medication. This is most likely true; however I am not equipped to deal with him regarding how he uses the pain medication. I decided that I would give his wife a call and just visit with her and ask her about how things are going.
Keep your medication, but do not let in ruin your life.
She shared with me that her husband is in a great deal of pain most of the time and that the medications are not able to give him any relief. She is hoping that he will get some relief in physical therapy. She also wants him to get back into working the business, because she feels that having a pay check coming in will help his attitude also. She is going to talk to the doctor about limiting the pain medication he receives, because she fears that her husband could be misusing it.
